Q: How does a Golf Squares pool work?
A: A Golf Squares pool uses a 10x10 grid, with rows and columns numbered 0–9. Members claim squares on the grid.

  • Grid numbers are hidden until either the tournament begins or you decide to reveal them.

  • At the end of each round, the system uses the tournament leader’s score (X axis) and the number of birdies or better (Y axis) to identify a winner.

  • Winners are displayed automatically on the site after each round.

Q: What tournaments can I run a squares grid for?
A: Any PGA Tournament. You can also set up a series of grids for things like the Majors, the FedExCup Playoffs, or other tournament groupings.

Q: What commissioner options are available?
A: Here are some customization options:

  • Master grids: Carry member square selections from one grid to future grids with new numbers.

  • Multiple grids per pool: Add as many as you like, including automatic series grids.

  • Number assignment: Randomly or manually assign numbers.

  • Multiple sets of numbers: Choose a single set of numbers or four (one per round/quarter).

  • Maximum picks per member: Limit how many squares a member can claim, per grid.

Q: How do members pick their squares?
A: Members simply log in and click on the squares they want. You (the commissioner) can also manually assign squares to “guest” players if they don’t want to register. Members can join and play from anywhere.

Q: When is the grid updated?
A: The grid and picks update in real time. You can also print the completed grid for members who prefer a paper copy.

Q: How are winning squares determined?
A: At the end of each round, the winning square is based on:

  • The tournament leader’s score to par (horizontal/X axis)

  • The number of birdies or better that leader has (vertical/Y axis)

If multiple players are tied for the lead, the highest-ranked player in the World Golf Ranking is used to determine the winner.

Q: How do I populate the numbers on the grid?
A: Go to Commissioner Console > Grid Settings, scroll down to Show axis numbers NOW & lock grid, and click Save.

Q: How can I track payments on my squares grid?
A: If you’re running a fundraiser, you can track donations by going to Grid Options > Grid Settings and enabling the Track Fundraising Donations setting. Then return to the grid and toggle on the $ icon to mark paid squares.

Q: Do people have to join my pool to pick squares?
A: No — you can manually assign squares to guests if needed. However, it’s easier to manage if members register and pick their own squares.

Q: How does payment work for members?
A: RunYourPool does not collect or distribute money. You, as the commissioner, are responsible for handling any payments, for example, through PayPal or another service. Be sure you comply with local fundraising laws. Our site only charges you a small hosting fee to run the pool.
