Q: How does a Golf Squares pool work?
A: A 10x10 grid of boxes is setup and each row and column are assigned a number from 0 to 9. Each square of the grid can be claimed by a pool member.
Pool members login and click grid squares to claim them.
Grid numbers are hidden from your members until you decide to show them or the Tournament begins, whichever comes first.
At the end of every round of the tournament, we automatically compare the score of the golfer leading the tournament (X axis) and the number of birdies or better he has to determine a winner.
We will show each winning square and list each individual winner.
Q: What tournament(s) can I run a squares grid for?
A: Any PGA Tournament—Run a grid for any tournament. You can also set up a grid series automatically for preset sets of tournaments, like the Majors, the FedExCup Playoffs, the West Coast Swing, etc.
Q: What commissioner options do I get?
A: Here is a list of what you can customize:
Set up master grids—Create grids that use the member square selections from existing grids, but with a new set of numbers.
Multiple grids per pool—Add new grids to your existing pool in seconds. You can even set a game series up (e.g., every Major tournament) just as quickly.
Number assignment options—Grid numbers can be randomly assigned or custom assigned by the Administrator for each grid.
Multiple sets of numbers per grid—Choose to have a single set of numbers, or 4 sets (1 for each quarter).
Maximum pick count—Administrators can specify the maximum number of boxes that a member can pick. This number can be different for each grid in a pool.
Q: How do members pick their squares?
A: Members of your Golf Squares pool will simply login to the website and click the square(s) they want. We also provide the option for Administrator's to enter the names of "guests" into squares, for those that don't want to register and log in. Members of your pool can join and participate from anywhere in the country ... or the world.
Q: When is the grid updated?
A: Pool members see the squares grid and all other pool members picks online, in real-time. The completed squares grid can also be printed out and distributed so members don't need to be near a computer to see who has won.
Q: How are winning squares determined?
A: Winning boxes are determined in each round by looking at the tournament leader's stats at that time. The top row of numbers (horizontal) represents that player's score to par, while the side (vertical) represents his number of birdies or better. If two or more players are tied for the lead, the player with the highest World Golf Ranking will be used.
Q: How do I populate the numbers on the golf grid?
A: You will go to your commissioner console > grid settings > scroll down to "Show axis numbers NOW & lock grid" > save:
Q: How can I track payments on my squares grid?
A: If you are running a fundraiser using our Squares format and want to track donations, go to Grid Options -> Grid Settings and turn on the 'Track Fundraising Donations' setting. You can then return to the grid and toggle the $ icon.
Q: Do people need to join my pool to in order to pick their squares?
A: The short answer is No.
As the commissioner, you can manually enter squares for people by simply clicking on a square and selecting the "Assign to a Guest" option.
While it is preferable to have people register and join your pool to manage their own squares, we give you the option to skip this step, if you prefer.
Q: How does the payment work? How do members pay for their squares and how does the commissioner pay out the money?
A: While we have many people use our site for fundraising, please be aware that we do not collect or distribute any money from participants...we simply charge a small fee to you, the pool commissioner, for hosting the pool.
Any fundraising you do will need to be collected outside of our website (possibly through PayPal or another service). You will have the ability to keep notes for each member. Just make sure you are in compliance with your local fundraising laws.
