We’re here to help you get started! Below is everything you need to know to run a successful Golf Majors pool on RYP.

Game Overview

  • Picks are made for any or all of the major tournaments:

    • The Players Championship (the unofficial “fifth major”)

    • The Masters

    • The PGA Championship

    • The U.S. Open Championship

    • The (British) Open Championship

  • For each major tournament you include in your pool, members will select six golfers to form their Player Roster.

  • By default, once a member picks a golfer, that golfer cannot be picked again in a future tournament, adding to the challenge and strategy (this rule is configurable if you prefer otherwise).

  • The goal is to have the best-performing roster cumulatively, either by total strokes or winnings (you decide which scoring type to use).

  • For stroke play, any PGA player who does not make the cut will be given the worst (highest) score of Rounds 3 and 4.

  • Performance is tracked both per major and cumulatively across all selected majors.

Pick & Scoring Options

What Options Do I Have to Configure My Pool?

You have flexibility to choose between two pick sheet options:

Tiered Pick Sheet

  • Golfers are divided into six tiers based on their odds to win the tournament.

  • Members pick one golfer from each tier.

Salary Cap Pick Sheet

  • Each golfer has a salary assigned based on their odds.

  • Members build a 6-player roster under a fixed salary cap.

In addition to the pick sheet format, pool commissioners have other customization options:

  • Drop Worst Picks: Exclude each member’s worst-performing golfer(s) from the scoring.

  • Finishing Position Bonuses: Add bonus points (e.g., subtract strokes) for members who pick top-finishing golfers.

  • Repicking Players: Choose whether golfers can be picked again in future tournaments or only once per season.
