Thank you for reaching out and reviewing this article to find the information you need. Below are answers to the most commonly asked questions regarding College Football Squares Pools on RunYourPool.

Q: How are the winning squares marked? Is that done automatically?

A: No. Because there are various ways to determine winners, we do not automatically mark winning squares. As the event begins, the commissioner can manually mark winners by clicking a square and entering a custom message.

Q: How can I change my entry name that appears in the grid?

A: Only the pool commissioner can make this change. Go to:
Commissioner Console → Member Management → Edit (next to the member) → Update entry name → Save Changes.

Q: When do the numbers get generated on my grid? How can I show them earlier?

A: Numbers along the top and side of the grid are automatically revealed once the assigned event starts. However, you can show them sooner by:
Go to your grid → Click the gear icon (Grid Settings) → Select "Show Grid Numbers NOW and lock grid" → Save.

Q: Do people need to join my pool to pick their squares?

A: No. As the commissioner, you can manually assign squares to guests by clicking on a square and selecting “Assign to a Guest.”
While member registration is recommended for easier tracking, it’s optional.

Q: How does payment work for squares and winnings?

A: RunYourPool does not collect or distribute any entry fees or winnings. The commissioner is responsible for any financial transactions outside the platform (e.g., via PayPal or Venmo). Please ensure all fundraising complies with local laws.

Q: When are the standings and reports updated?

A: Most updates occur within minutes of a game’s conclusion. However, due to varying data sources and internet conditions, timing may vary slightly.

Q: What if all my squares aren’t filled?

A: If there are unclaimed squares, it’s up to the commissioner to decide how to handle a win by an empty square (e.g., no winner, winner goes to next square, etc.). Be sure to communicate this to all participants.

Q: What’s the difference between a “Single Game” and “Series of Games” grid option?

A:

  • Single Game: Assign a grid to one specific football game.

  • Series of Games: Automatically generate a new grid for each game in a series, such as every Bowl Game or every game for a specific team.

You can always add more games or grids later, regardless of your initial setup.
