Q: What is the difference between group staging and knockout staging?
A: the difference is each stage is:
Group Stage—In the group stage, the 24 teams that qualified for the tournament are broken into groups containing four teams each. Each team competes in a round robin tournament with the other three teams in its group. The two top teams in each group, and the four top 3rd place teams, advance to the Knockout Stage.
Knockout Stage—The remaining 16 teams participate in a single elimination bracket pool. For those of you familiar with the NCAA Basketball tournament, think of the Knockout round as the soccer equivalent to the Sweet 16.
Q: Can I edit the points per round?
A: Yes, you go! Go to your commissioner console > pool settings > scoring settings. Below, is a screenshot of each stage and how to change the points per round:
Q: If I choose the group stage, how is this calculated?
A: For the Group stage, pool members predict the finishing position of each team in all the groups and points are awarded for correct predictions. Points are awarded for each correct team ranking in each of the eight groups. As an example, if one (1) point is awarded per correct ranking, members could earn up to 24 points in the group stage (all 4 rankings correct in all 6 groups).
Q: If I choose the knockout stage, how is that calculated?
A: For the knockout stage, members pick all 15 games in the bracket and are awarded points for correct picks. They will pick the ACTUAL teams qualifying for bracket play, NOT those they predicted to advance. This means they will fill out their brackets AFTER the Group Stage is completed.
Q: Is there a tie-breaker for the Group Stage?
A: No, that will be up to the commissioner
Q: Is there a tie-breaker for the Knockout round?
A: Yes!
Q: How can I change my entry name that appears in the reports?
A: Entry names can be changed on your entries page within the pool. Click on the appropriate pool membership on your Pool Memberships page. Once in the pool, navigate to the 'Your Picks' tab and click the 'rename' link next to the entry you would like to change.
Q: When are the standings (and other reports) updated?
A: Most updates will occur within minutes of the conclusion of each game, however due to the nature of the internet, we make no guarantee about the exact time an update will take place.
Q: How do I turn on "group staging" and assign points?
A: To turn ON group stage or include that setting in your pool, you will go to your commissioner console > pool settings > scoring settings > toggle ON "Include Group Staging" > then you will be able to customize the points per correct group finishing positions.
