Q: Do you offer Women's World Cup and also whats the difference between both?

A: Yes, we do as its own pool option! The only difference is that fewer countries participate in the Women's World Cup.

Q: Whats the difference between Group Stage and Knockout Stage?

A: The difference between these stages are:

  • Group Stage—In the group stage, the teams that qualified for the tournament (32 for men, 24 for women) are broken into groups containing four teams each. Each team competes in a round robin tournament with the other three teams in its group. The two top teams in each group advance to the Knockout Stage. For the women, the four top 3rd place teams will also advance.

  • Knockout Stage—The remaining 16 teams participate in a single elimination bracket pool. For those of you familiar with the NCAA Basketball tournament, think of the Knockout round as the soccer equivalent to the Sweet 16.

Q: How does it work if I pick the Group Stage?

A: For the Group stage, pool members predict the finishing position of each team in all the groups and points are awarded for correct predictions. Points are awarded for each correct team ranking in each of the eight groups. As an example, if one (1) point is awarded per correct ranking, members could earn up to 32 points in the group stage (all 4 rankings correct in all 8 groups).

Q: How does it work if I pick Knockout Stage?

A: For the Knockout stage, members pick all 15 games in the bracket and are awarded points for correct picks. They will pick the ACTUAL teams qualifying for bracket play, NOT those they predicted to advance. This means they will fill out their brackets AFTER the Group Stage is completed.

Q: As a pool commission, can I change the points per round?

A: Yes, you will go to your commissioner console > pool settings > scoring settings:

Q: How is the winner determined?

A: The goal is to be the member with the most points at the end of the World Cup Tournament.

Q: How do I send this pool out for my members to join?

A: As the commissioner you will go to your commissioner console > invite instructions > select: new members (link works for new & old members) > copy the link and send it out

Q: How can I change my entry name that appears in the reports?

A: Entry names can be changed on your entries page within the pool. Click on the appropriate pool membership on your Pool Memberships page. Once in the pool, navigate to the 'Your Picks' tab and click the 'rename' link next to the entry you would like to change.

Q: How does the group scoring work?

A: Pool Commissioners set a number of points to be assigned per correct ranking within each group. Pool members will receive the number of points assigned for each correct ranking within each group.

For example, the commissioner decides members get one (1) point per correct ranking in the group stage. If a member correctly ranks each team in Group A, they will receive 4 points. Therefore, in this example, members can receive up to 32 points in the group round (in the event they rank every team correctly in every group).

Q: My members can only make picks for the group stage. Why can't they pick the knockout stage at the beginning of the tournament?

A: Members must wait until the actual teams are known. They will be picking from the ACTUAL teams that make the knockout round, NOT the teams they picked to move on.

If they had to pick the brackets now, very few people would have ANY positions correct, which would make the knockout stage insignificant.

Q: Why can't members make picks for the knockout stage before the group stage ends?

A: Knockout Stage picks are based on the ACTUAL teams that qualify for the stage by being one of the top two teams in their group. The teams they can select in the Knockout Stage are NOT based on their selections in the Group Stage.

Q: Can I prevent pool members from submitting more than one entry?

A: Yes. To do so:

  1. Login to your Commissioner account

  2. Go to Commissioner Console --> Pool Settings

  3. Uncheck the check box next to 'Members allowed to submit more than one (1) entry per email address'

Q: Can I see my pools standings and results from previous years?

A: Yes. Go to Reports --> Pool History
