Q: Why is my pool locked? My members and I cannot access it.
A: Your pool is locked because payment to host your Academy Awards pool on our site has not been paid by the payment deadline. To unlock your pool, you (Pool Commissioner) will need to go to your commissioner console > pay pool fee. Once payment has been made, it will automatically unlock for you and your members to access again.
Q: I'm hoping to unarchive the Academy Awards pool from last year, and find previous years results. Can you help me please?
A: You will go to your Dashboard > Archived Tab > Click the 3 dots next to the pool > Unarchive:
(Screen recording below)
Q: Is there a way to add a custom tie breaker, or bonus point question?
A: Unfortunately, not through the RYP Academy Awards pool format. You cannot customize questions/add or edit questions or tie-breaker. If you want to create your own questions for the Academy Awards, I recommend you use our Custom Q&A pool format which give you complete control. With this format, you will need to do everything manually from scoring, entering questions and etc.
Q: There are two entries that never made picks for the pool. Can I delete those? Your site wants me to pay for those, even though no picks were made.
A: Yes, as a pool commissioner we HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to delete the entries with no picks, because once payment comes, we go based on how many entries are created as a whole (doesn't matter if there are picks or no picks). You will go to your commissioner console > member management page > see who has an "entry with no picks" > click edit > click the 3 dots to delete their entry.
Q: My friends created a pool for the academy awards and are wondering if the tie breaker is closest, or closest without going over. Can you clarify?
A: On RYP, we go by whoever is the closest in general. Does not matter if you are over and still the closest or you can be under and the closest.
Q: What time is the Oscar pool deadline? And are entries or edits locked in after this?
A: The deadline for the Oscars pool is at the start of the show. Once it begins, no further changes can be made to your members pool picks.
Q: How can I allow someone to submit answers after the start of the show?
A: Members cannot manually add their picks after the show has started. As the commissioner, you do have the ability to create a members entry for them by going to your commissioner console > member pick maintenance > select member > make picks > save.
Q: If I pay the fee early can others still join up until the start? Can I just pay a second fee for the difference at that time?
A: Yes, as long as the current amount of entries are paid for, your pool will not locked. If you need more members, you can pay for additional members.
Q: Do you offer a free version of the Academy Awards?
A: Unfortunately, we do not.
Q: How do I set up a deadline for the website to cut off entries for my Oscar Pool? I see no such option under pool settings. I also do not see anything indicating the deadline for players.
A: You can not set a deadline, unfortunately. However, you can prevent new entries from joining your pool whenever you're ready.
To do this, go to your commissioner console > pool settings > basic settings > then turn on "prevent new entries."
Q: Can I edit the points per category/questions?
A: Yes. Go to your commissioner console > pool settings > scoring settings > edit the point fields > submit changes.
Q: Can I remove questions from the Academy Awards pick sheet?
A: Yes, you will go to your commissioner console > pool settings > scoring settings > edit the point field and add a 0 (zero) next to the questions you do not want to include.
Q: Can I print off a Academy Awards blank pick sheet?
A: Yes, commissioners have the access to do this by going to their commissioner console > printable pick sheet:
Q: How can I change my entry name that appears in the reports?
A: Entry names can be changed on your entries page within the pool. Click on the appropriate pool membership on your Pool Memberships page. Once in the pool, navigate to the 'Your Picks' tab and click the 'rename' link next to the entry you would like to change.
