Thank you for reaching out and reviewing this article. Below you'll find answers to the most common questions about managing and participating in your Academy Awards Prop Bet Pool on RunYourPool.

For more information, visit our RYP Knowledge Base.

Q: Why is my pool locked? My members and I can't access it.

A: Your pool is locked because the hosting fee has not been paid by the payment deadline. To unlock your pool, the Pool Commissioner must go to Commissioner Console > Pay Pool Fee. Once the payment is completed, the pool will automatically unlock and be accessible to all members.

Q: How can I unarchive my pool and view results from previous years?

A: To unarchive a past Academy Awards pool:
Go to your Dashboard > Archived Tab > Click the three dots next to the pool > Select "Unarchive."

Q: Can I add a custom tie-breaker or bonus question?

A: Not within the default Academy Awards Prop Bet format. Customization of questions or tie-breakers is not supported in this format. If you want full control over the questions and scoring, we recommend using our Custom Q&A Pool format. Please note this format requires manual question setup and scoring.

Q: Can I delete entries that haven’t made any picks?

A: Yes. If there are entries without picks, we recommend deleting them before finalizing payment, as charges are based on total entries created—regardless of whether picks were submitted.
To delete:
Go to Commissioner Console > Member Management > Locate entry with no picks > Click Edit > Click the three dots > Delete Entry.

Q: How is the tie-breaker scored—closest overall or closest without going over?

A: Tie-breakers are based on closest overall. It does not matter if the guess is over or under—whichever entry is numerically closest will win.

Q: What is the deadline for submitting Oscar pool picks?

A: The deadline is the official start of the broadcast. Once the show begins, entries are locked, and no further edits can be made.

Q: Can someone submit picks after the show has started?

A: Members cannot submit picks after the show begins. However, as Commissioner, you can do this manually:
Go to Commissioner Console > Member Pick Maintenance > Select Member > Make Picks > Save.

Q: Can I pay early and allow others to join later?

A: Yes. Once you've paid for the current number of entries, the pool remains unlocked. You can add more members later by paying the difference for the additional entries.

Q: Do you offer a free version of the Academy Awards Pool?

A: No, we do not offer a free version of this pool format.

Q: Can I set a deadline to close entries automatically?

A: There is no automatic deadline setting, but you can manually prevent new entries:
Go to Commissioner Console > Pool Settings > Basic Settings > Enable "Prevent New Entries."

Q: Can I edit the point values for each category?

A: Yes. Go to Commissioner Console > Pool Settings > Scoring Settings > Edit Point Fields > Submit Changes.

Q: Can I remove certain questions from the pick sheet?

A: Yes. You can disable questions by assigning them a point value of 0:
Go to Commissioner Console > Scoring Settings > Set unwanted questions to 0.

Q: Can I print a blank Academy Awards pick sheet?

A: Yes. Go to Commissioner Console > Printable Pick Sheet to download and print a blank version for offline use.

Q: How can I change my entry name?

A: Navigate to your Pool Memberships page > Select the pool > Go to the 'Your Picks' tab > Click 'Rename' next to your entry name.
