CFB Confidence Ranks: Can Ranks Be Reused for Quarterfinals/National Championship Games?

Great question! Here’s how confidence points work in College Football Bowl Pick'em pools using confidence ranks:

  • All games — including quarterfinals and the National Championship — appear on a single pick sheet, with ranks assigned from 1 to the total number of games (e.g., 1–47 if there are 47 games).

  • Once a rank is used, it cannot be reused later — this includes the playoff and championship rounds.

  • However, if you choose to leave some ranks unassigned initially, you can use those unused ranks later for games like the National Championship once the matchups are known (especially if your pool is set to allow picks for playoff games after the first bowl has started).

  • You can also choose to exclude specific games (other than playoff/NC games) in your pool setup to reduce the number of required rankings.

So to summarize: No, ranks cannot be reused — each confidence value from 1 up must be unique across all games. But yes, you can hold back and assign them later to TBD games if your pick deadline settings allow.
